September 3rd, 2015 – This would perhaps have been a bit timelier yesterday. The Des Moines-based casual restaurant Zombie Burger has been serving a type of sandwich with a pizza bun; the pizza, interestingly enough, is basically what you’d have had in school cafeterias growing up. Zombie Burger’s chef spent a good amount of time researching the USDA-approved pizza recipes from the 1980s and 1990s, and the results were cut in squares and placed around the burger itself.
It was only supposed to run until yesterday, and it sounds like the weirdest thing imaginable…but it’s been a big success so far, and Zombie Burger may continue to offer it through today.
