August 10th, 2015 – Pennsylvania’s South Middleton School District will enact an initiative this year to provide laptop computers to each of their high school students, starting with the 689 students and 55 faculty and staff members at Boiling Springs High School. The laptops will be leased from Hewlett-Packard for an annual cost of $123,000…or about $125 per laptop per year, which isn’t a bad deal. This will also free up older-model laptop hardware to be distributed among middle school students, to begin to address a digital divide there.
